In other news …
Our house got burglared last night. I’m still not sure how I feel. I’m a bit uneasy but I’m not particularly worried. We’ve secured the house and they should have a whole lot more trouble getting in, now. Still, it’s been a busy day. They got our mobiles, the TomTom navigator, the Nintendo DS and, of course, our wallets and purses. Well, my wife’s purse anyway.
Later on, I discovered they had also taken the bag I use for gigs. In them were my leather pants, and my contacts. I can get the contacts back from the doctor, but the leather pants are gone. I’ll have to buy those over again.
The neighbours a few houses down the road have also been burglared using the same way to gain entry – through the front door. The whole morning was spent running and cycling around town getting new ID cards, new drivers licenses, spending money so we won’t go hungry, visiting the police to open a dossier, calling the insurance and what’s not. Tomorrow I’ll have to take another day off to visit the townhouse and pay for getting our papers back in order.
While it’s completely unsettling to know that I’ve been burglared, it’s not the burglary itself that I’m particularly upset about but all the actions it entails. On the other hand, occupying myself with the things that needed to be done stopped me from being nervous. And I got to spend a lovely day with my wife in town. Well, I might rephrase that, but it was good to be out with the missus anyway.
I hope they trip and swallow the mobiles they took, and may the navigator drop on their head and crack their skulls.

Thank you for being there and staying with me today. I think I’d have handled this day much worse if you hadn’t been there.
Also, you forgot my pwetty camera. I really hope insurance will cover it.
Love you much.

Damn – sorry to hear you’ve been visited by thieving scum.
I’ve been lucky to never have been burgled, but having my car broken into 3 times, and vandalized once for the hell of it I have experience with the aftermath – police, insurance, forced to take the day off etc.

Hey Erik,
Thanks for the concern. We’ll manage. I just hope the insurance is going to pay – otherwise I’m gonna have a really bad few months …
